Okay I’ll admit, I’m tired! I made the chicken dinner. Then pulled the leftover chicken off the bone and made chicken salad for sandwiches. Then got Zach’s dress clothes ready for tomorrow. He has a performance at the new Stem school during their tour. Then tomorrow evening is the marching band performance at the game. Our football team made playoffs, so there will be more football games/marching performances than usual. I did some homework help with Matt. Then it was too cold and humid, so my laundry on the line would not dry entirely even after over 7 hours, so I brought it all in and hung it. ugh
It’s after 8pm, but I really feel like having a coffee to relax! Tomorrow will be busy at work and honestly my muscles are still aching from stadium sitting last night and I will be there again tomorrow night. Hurting. ugh
Was helping Zach with college applications. He’s applying to 5 schools. Well the problem is that he did not fill out any schools when he took the updated SAT because he thought they would do that at the testing center because that’s what they did when he took it the first time. Well he was wrong. Now submitting his SAT scores will cost $12 per school. Then 3 our of his 5 schools invited him to apply without an application fee. One might still not have one. He’s going to go to a discovery day soon and I think they might waive the application fee for students that attend the discover day. We’ll see. If not, that fee isn’t too much, but one school, the fee is $70!!! Did I mention he has cap and gown fees soon? I don’t even know how much that is yet! Oh and I haven’t paid for photos yet or his yearbook or etc. etc. etc. He has a deadline of Sunday to submit an essay and have his application submitted and he’s booked tomorrow and works Saturday! This is just all overwhelming!
He needs more recommendation letters! He only has one so far! Then I thought we had written everything he had done prior to when he was inducted to NHS, but nooooo he can’t find that file that we spent days putting together so college application time would be easier! I’m so stressed out! So we will build another timeline.
After much soul searching, he has decided on biomedical engineering. He’d love to be a professor (math or science-based), but said he’d pursue biomedical engineering with a minor in computer science and continue through to graduate level and then he would be prepared to pursue various directions. Of course, this could change with guidance once he’s planted at a university. I hope he finds a good mentor. He said he has plan B and I know that means staying close to home. That’s the discover day he’s going to. I feel selfish for hoping he chooses that. He’s going to the U.P. to check out a campus soon, too. I think that’s in a couple of weeks. His closest friends either are already attending there or plan to, so I think he’s leaning toward that.
Very busy couple of days with him! I work this upcoming Monday and I know I will be exhausted by then! It’s an emotional time and a very busy time.
