Ahem. This is 11/26, not 11/25?
Anyway, we did a not much o’ nuthin’ today. I made up a new to me recipe of root veggie hash from parsnips, carrots (2 kinds), potatoes (2 kinds), turnips (2 kinds), celery root, and onions. Roasted with olive oil, s & p. Said it made 4 servings and it does! We had it for lunch and there’s another serving for each of us left.
We went out to eat last night and had left over meat: chicken for me and beef for DH. Tonight’s dinner will be chicken salad on toast (probably use up the end of the T’giving 1/4 chicken too) maybe with cheese, so a melt, roasted veggies and maybe sauteed greens.
Made a dump run. Trash bag was really heavy because of all the veggie trimmings from Thanksgiving and the hash for lunch. (I stop putting veggie trimmings out in the compost on Columbus Day. I don’t want the vermin to see my compost heap as a permanent, constant source of food. Vermin being there all the time also brings predators. . . and we have foxes, coyote, bear, fisher cats, etc.
DH got the flat file put back together, it’s a horizontal filing cabinet. Used it for my business for years, after that, it stored office supplies, then DH had it in the workshop. It’s on the porch now, and the idea is that we’ll stuff it full of firewood. The wood will be protected, under cover and immediately next to a door. Also, not wood on wood contact, so insects won’t travel between it and our log home… It will probably go to the dump, next spring. But right now it’s a firewood storage piece!
