@tallyho I’ve been thinking about pulling Flylady’s zones back out. I feel like I have the clutter and stuff under control, but the cleaning stuff I have a hard time with and I really want to take care of my nice new floors. So I’m thinking just about trying to do the zone cleaning in the right week to make sure I hit everything.
Sorry I’ve been away, but I really just got out of control for a bit. I did start online therapy which I think is helping - I did it for a week and a half and now my therapist is on vacation, so I’ll jump back in next week. I’m sure it will take a few weeks to really know how helpful it is, but I’m pretty optimistic.
Work - I just can’t even right now. After spending weeks telling them all the problems with the quoting system and what a disaster it’s going to be, nothing got fixed, or only half fixed, or ignored. We “went live” on Monday and didn’t send out any quotes until Tuesday afternoon. Half of the things we are doing as “work arounds” won’t work for live jobs, which will cause problems down the road. And here’s the kicker - my thoughts the whole time have been if they didn’t include our department in setting up the software, how many other departments did they not include and will have problems like us? Everyone who works there thought it was a bad idea to change over this week because we weren’t ready, but our GM said we absolutely had to, come hell or high water, he wasn’t going to push the new system date out again.
So - last night at 11pm they had to shut the machines down because nothing works. They can’t get product in inventory, we can’t account for anything, our material yields are off leading us to allocate the wrong amount of raw materials, lot of items have incorrect pricing, we can’t ship anything, and I don’t think we billed anything today. Total and utter chaos. I feel most bad for the people on the manufacturing floors - they were sent home, and I can’t imagine that they are being paid. 2 weeks before Christmas.
We’ll see when I walk in tomorrow if we are back up and running. Somehow I doubt it. And the problems we have in estimating are now totally on the back burner because we need to get the machines running, but we’re still somehow expecting to turn out pricing. We’re 3 days behind.
I felt so defeated tonight I just took the boys to Dairy Queen for dinner because I just didn’t want to cook.
