Thanks @forHISglory . The realtor was great. She went through the house and told us what to focus on. We were all set to have a new fence put up, but she thought we shouldn't bother. We're still "on the fence" about that comment. However, it definitely moved down the list of things to do. Which is good. Because the guy DH phoned earlier this week has not returned his call.
Instead she suggested we have a gas fireplace insert placed in our old fireplace so it's usable. It would be under $5000CAD and we'd recoup that in our sales price. That's one thing we hadn't thought of.
She mentioned a few other things, like painting inside and out, refinishing floors, fixing the main entry, that we'd already thought of. She had good ideas for all of them. She wants everything basically down off the walls and packed away before she sends a team in to take photographs, etc.
She did mention the difference in the economy where we live and where we want to move to. She's afraid house prices there are going to go up faster than here, and we'll find we can't buy into that market. So we've tentatively moved our moving date to next year instead of 2019. We'll see.
Depends how much we can get done before the snow flies here. DH phoned a painting company today. I phoned the fireplace insert guys. We will have quotes next week I hope and work done soon after.
Meanwhile, DH is motivated! Yay! He's finishing off laying the brick walkway this weekend. Then we'll be moving plants around...in growing season. Oh well. If they live, they live. If they die, they die. We also want to put a plant barrier (lawn edging) between us and the neighbours. Unfortunately they don't appear to be home these days, so we can't talk to them. Someone must be around sometime though, because their garden is still growing! It would be dead in this heat without watering.
As for me, my job is listing more stuff online for sale... Talk to you all later!
