Texas Chocolate Cake
mix in bowl,
2 C flour
2 C sugar
Stir in saucepan
1-1/2 sticks butter
4 T. cocoa ( I use 3)
1 C hot water
Boil stir constantly, until smooth,
pour into flour mixture and beat until smooth
1 tsp. baking soda
1 C. thick buttermilk ( 1 C milk + 1 T. vinegar)
mix quicky, add to flour mixture, beat well.
Pour into a greased jelly roll pan, ( or large cookie sheet )
Bake at 400* for 20 minutes. Don't overbake.
Frost while hot.
Frosting, ( I make while cake is baking )
1 stick butter
4 T. cocoa ( I use 3 )
boil while stirring, then add
6 T milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 pound powdered sugar
beat until smooth.
pour over hot cake , spread..
You can put whole pecans on top if you want..
you might try all of the cocoa, we find it a bit much..
